Since 2008, CinefestOZ has captivated the South West and West Australia with an exciting line-up of World and WA premieres, In Conversation dining events and Short Film Sets, along with its free Deadly Days, Cinesnaps School Program and Industry Program.
CinefestOZ has consolidated its position as the premiere destination film festival in Australia with record numbers of high calibre film guests and a sensational line-up of new Australian films.
A unique aspect of the festival is the $100,000 annual Film Prize, the largest film prize dedicated to Australian feature films. Awarded by a high- profile Jury of Industry experts, the prestigious Film Prize acknowledges excellence in the art of filmmaking from an Australian feature film.
In 2021, CinefestOZ expanded to include CinefestOZ Albany, which is held in partnership with the City of Albany and the local community. It is held annually in April with Australian film premieres, IndigifestOZ, Schools and filmmaker Q&A sessions. CinefestOZ Broome (First Nations Film Festival) was first held in November 2022 in partnership with Goolarri Media, a wholly owned and run Indigenous media organisation and has seen continued success in 2023.
