Everything under one roof
We handle the everyday stuff — servicing, brakes, tyres, diagnostics — and the bigger, more technical work too: hydraulics, heavy diesel, air con and auto electrical, often all on the one machine. Whatever’s going on, we find the real issue, explain it in plain English, and fix it right.
Active Hydraulics & Mechanical was founded by Jeff McCormack, who’s spent more than 15 years around machinery, vehicles and equipment — heavy diesel, hydraulics, mobile plant, air conditioning, auto electrical and general mechanical work.
A big part of that was up in the Pilbara, in and around mining and heavy industry, where the gear works hard, the conditions are brutal, and downtime costs serious money. That’s where the way we work was forged: answer the phone, turn up, know what you’re looking at, and get the job moving — no fancy words.
Jeff brought that down to Busselton to build something more permanent: a proper workshop at 8 Isaacs Street with multiple bays and five hoists, and a team to match. Today that’s Jeff, our mechanics and our front-of-house — and we’re growing, with more capacity and mobile service on the way as we take on more work across the South West.
What hasn’t changed is how we do things. We’re not here to be the cheapest. We do the job properly, we’re straight with people, and we look after the customers — and the team — who do the right thing. If something’s stuffed, we’ll tell you. If it’s not worth fixing, we’ll tell you that too.
