The Busselton Chamber of Commerce and the Dunsborough Yallingup Chamber of Commerce have joined forces to present our Business Excellence Awards for 2020 to celebrate the efforts and success for businesses in our region.

The application process has been designed to help you focus on key aspects of your business, giving you valuable opportunity to review your business and benchmark your performance against other successful businesses.

The benefits of being a finalist and ultimately winning a business award are many and varied, from marketing and promotional advantages to competetive advantage when applying for grants or funding

To calculate the number of FTE employees:

FTE = total casual and part-time hours worked per week ÷ 38 + total full-time employees. Be sure to include all owners, proprietors, directors and partners who are active in the day-to-day running of your business.

Your business may be considered in up to 3 different categories. The judges will determine which category best suits your business.

An offline application form can be used as a preferred option to the online application form as this allows images to be included. You can also download a copy of the Business Excellence Awards Flyer which contains more information about the awards and prizes. If you would like some tips for a great submission you can download a copy of the SBDC application tips.

THE JUDGING PROCESS

The awards are judged evaluating written entries and one face-to-face interview with the judges. You need to have an excellent submission as well as an excellent business. Judges use a marking template to score each of your answers to the questions and then calculate the total score. An independent panel of judges have been selected, including some from outside of this region – they don’t know anything about your business that you don’t include in your answers, so be sure to be as comprehensive as possible within the word count as set in the questions. The Board and staff of either of the CCI’s have no input in the judging process. The judging panel reserves the right to place entrants into the most appropriate category. All submissions must fully satisfy the criteria and only those deemed competitive will become finalists.
